Public Hearing

December 17, 2012

The City of Lincoln Public Hearing met in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, December 17, 2012.

There were six Aldermen present (Alderman Anderson, Alderman Armbrust, Alderman Horn, Alderman Neitzel, Alderman O’Donohue, and Alderman Wilmert) and three absent (Alderman Bacon, Alderman Hoinacki, and Alderman Tibbs). Also present were Assistant Fire Chief Dunovsky, Safety and Building Officer Mr. John Lebegue, Street Superintendent Mr. Jackson, City Engineer Mr. Forgy, Police Chief Greenslate. Also present were Mayor Snyder, City Treasurer Mr. Conzo, Deputy City Clerk Mrs. Fulk, and Recording Secretary Mrs. Riggs.

Mayor Snyder called the meeting to order at 7:16 p.m. on the the application for new taxi service.

Publication was done in the local newspaper and was paid by the applicant.

Mr. Stillwell presented his case for another taxi service in town that it would be a convenience, prevent waiting time, set appointments to get to work on time, they would be able to compliment one another. They will bring a manager and hiring local people to drive and then try to have a local manager. Background checks are made.

Ms. Michelle Squaire was present for American Cab. She said they have two cabs but rarely run more than one. There is another service in town that did not have to go through the public hearing. She stated that if the other company comes in one won't make it.

Mr. Stillwell said they were not here to put American Cab out of business. They try to work with other companies in the other communities they are in.

Ms. Squaire said their company is not something someone can make a living. The fares are set by the City.

Alderman Anderson moved to adjourn the meeting and Alderman Wilmert seconded to close the meeting. There were six yes (Alderman Anderson, Alderman Armbrust, Alderman Horn, Alderman Neitzel, Alderman O’Donohue, and Alderman Wilmert), one seat vacant and three absent (Alderman Bacon, Alderman Hoinacki, and Alderman Tibbs); motion carried.

The hearing was closed at 7:30 p.m.
