During their regular meeting on Monday, September 21st, the Lincoln City Council selected Ms. Martha (Marty) A. Neitzel to serve as Mayor of the City of Lincoln.  Ms. Neitzel will serve out the balance of the term of former Mayor Keith Snyder which ends April 30, 2017.

Ms. Neitzel, a lifelong resident of Lincoln, has served on the Lincoln City Council as alderman since November 2002.  During her time on the council, Ms. Neitzel has been appointed Mayor Pro Temp and served as temporary chairman after the resignation of Mayor Snyder earlier this year.

“It has been my life’s passion to contribute in some way towards the positive growth of Lincoln, Illinois,” said Ms. Neitzel.  “As your newly appointed mayor, I will be committed to working with all residents in every neighborhood, listening to your individual ideas and concerns.”

Ms. Neitzel graduated from Lincoln Community High School and later worked as a bookkeeping accountant and claims adjuster for Economy Insurance Company.  Prior to her retirement in 1999, Ms. Neitzel was named “Illinois Woman Adjuster of the Year.”

Ms. Neitzel’s appointment is effective immediately and will begin meeting with establishing City Hall office hours in the near future.
