Police Department

The Lincoln Police Department can enforce traffic and ordinance laws on private property only with a signed agreement.  The following is the directions for completing the agreement and how it will be filed.

  1. Complete attached “Traffic and Ordinance Enforcement Agreement.”
  2. Obtain legal description of property from the Logan County Assessor’s Office, contact them by phone 217-732-9635 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Attach legal description to Agreement.
  3. Return signed, original Agreement, with property description, and $75.00 recording fee to the Police Department. Check for $75.00 to be made out to City of Lincoln.
  4. Agreement goes before the City Council of Lincoln for approval.
  5. Agreement is turned over to City of Lincoln Attorney for recording with Logan County.
  6. Property owner may proceed with having signs made in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The City requests that signs mirror the City’s ordinances and those found in State law, i.e., fire lane, timed parking, stop signs, no parking, etc. The link to the MUTCD website is http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/kno-faq.htm.
  7. Property owner will receive a copy of executed Agreement after it is recorded by the Logan County Clerk and Recorder.
  8. Three days after Agreement is recorded by Logan County, signs may be posted and enforcement requested.
