PATROL DIVISION, K-9 UNIT & INVESTIGATIONS

Patrol Division

Our Patrol Division consists of 20 sworn officers.

These officers use several unmarked police cars and marked police cars to patrol. These vehicles consist of Ford Interceptors, Ram Pickups, and Dodge Durangos. The Department has been transitioning to 4-wheel drive vehicles due to inclement weather like snow and heavy rains.

Our vehicles are equipped with Video Cameras, RADAR, and Mobile Data Computers. Our mobile data computers are connected to a statewide system implemented by the Illinois Central Management Services called the Illinois Wireless Information Network(IWIN). Our officers are equipped with Body Worn Camera's. These cameras capture audio and video recordings of interactions between officers and the public. We also utilize QUICKET for crash reporting to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Citizens can download crash reports utilizing payquicket.com.

Our patrol officers are trained in several areas but being a small department each of our officers take on specialized duties to help further services to our citizens. We have officers that participate in the Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education (DARE) program, School Resource Officers, K9 program, narcotics, and we also have officers that take care of our fleet of vehicles and some that do specialized training in weapons and tactics.

Our patrol force is always available, and we always have a police officer available for calls within the limits of the City of Lincoln.

Please call (217)732-2151 if you have a request for any law enforcement service.

K-9 Unit

The Lincoln Police Department is proud to be able to have an amazing K-9 Team. K-9 Diesel has been certified by the State of Illinois to detect the odor of illegal drugs, track to assist in the apprehension of suspects or locate missing people and conduct "article searches”, which are searches for a discarded object.

Diesel’s handler, Sergeant Phillips, has also been certified to deploy and handle Diesel during law enforcement activities. Sergeant Phillips is also responsible for taking care of Diesel in his off time and Diesel resides with Sergeant Phillips at his residence.

K9 Diesel is a powerful asset in our endeavor to reduce the amount of illegal drugs and crime in our community.

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION (CID)

The CID investigates major crimes committed in the Lincoln Area. We currently have two full time detectives assigned to general investigations and an investigator assigned to narcotic investigations. Our Investigator participates in a multi-jurisdictional drug task force, conducting joint investigations with other local, state, and federal agencies.

Crimes are committed every day and there is always someone that may have information about a crime in our community.
