SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS

A School Resource Officer is a sworn law enforcement officer that is carefully selected to work in our schools. These officers have a mission to help build relationships with our youth and school staff. They also go through extensive training in school safety, mentoring, counseling, and teaching. With this training they are better equipped to reduce and prevent crime in our communities.

The Lincoln Police Department currently has two School Resource Officers. One at the Lincoln Community High School, the other covers all District 27 Schools including the Abe Lincoln Academy.

Our School Resource Officers also work with every school in town, and multiple businesses on how to protect themselves and handle active threat situations that may arise. The SRO's educate the schools and businesses using the Standard Response Protocol put together by the I Love You Guys Foundation. The Standard Response Protocol is used throughout the United States and has become a major factor in saving lives during active threat situations, natural disasters and civil unrest.
