Tremont Street Reconstruction Project
Project Information
The Tremont Street Reconstruction Project consists of improvements on Tremont Street from North Union Street east to North Logan Street. These improvements include new ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps, curb and gutter, storm sewer improvements and total reconstruction of the roadway. This project will span 2 construction seasons (2026-2027).
A bid opening took place on April 22, 2026. Five bids were received. Those bids ranged from $1,839,372.00 to $2,214,633.35. The project was awarded to the low bidder, Earthworks Solutions of Springfield Illinois. This project will be funded with local funds being paid out of the Capital Projects line.

Tremont Street Reconstruction Project Timeline
Work will begin on August 17, 2026.
The following work is the tentative schedule for the remainder of 2026.
- Tree removal. 19 trees will need to be removed to make space for the new sidewalks and curbs that will be installed. Removing the trees is a necessity to prevent future damage to the new sidewalks and curbs.
· Storm sewer improvements, excavation and furnished excavation
· Removal of sidewalks, curb and gutter, driveways and portions of pavement to allow for the new infrastructure to be installed
· Subbase work
· Curb and gutter replacement
· HMA Binder course
· Sidewalk and driveway replacement
· Seeding Class A
· Winter shutdown
